D.O Montsant

Red wines are the most common in the DO Montsant, since more than 90% of the grape production corresponds to red varieties. Among these, the Garnacha and Cariñena stand out, the historical varieties of the territory, the best adapted to its conditions and that best convey the identity of the area.

The red Grenache has a very sensual aromatic profile, of great complexity, and produces well-structured wines. Carignan, also called samsó in the area, is aromatically very intense, and produces moderate-grade wines with very good acidity.

As for white wines, they are made mainly with white Grenache and Macabeo. They are distinguished by silkiness, structure and elegant and subtle aromas.

Rosé wines have been gaining presence over the years. They are intense on the nose, silky on the palate and stand out for their fruity aromas.

On the other hand, fortified wines have a long tradition in this area. Sweets, stale and mistelas that have recovered in recent years their former prestige as a gourmet product.
